Members were aggressively traing and becoming familiar with different aspects of the apparatus pump, fittings, and adapters on the night before Valentine’s day. Sure we could have been home with our families or siginificant others however dedication to the fire service and department played a big roll in the nights drill.
Engine 614 laid out over 1000 ft of 5″ supply line from a hydrant and simulated a defensive attack of a fire and immediately went in service with their “deck gun” (deluge). Engine 613 simulated as a 2nd due apparatus and assisted with water flow to Engine 614. Futher into the training, Engine 612 was placed in service with a simulated hand line operation. Upon establishing a water supply it was found 1 length of supply line was deemed to be placed Out Of Service due to a significant hole nearest a coupling.
Members revisited the uses and importance of certain adapters and fittings while maintaining an adequate water supply.
After completion of the drill and placing all three apparatuses back in service, members respomded to a Commercial Fire Alarm as well as a Reported Commercial Building Fire in Logan Township.
Dedication from members, good observation and great leadership is key to having a successful department.
