Thorofare Volunteer Fire Company is a 100% volunteer fire company servicing the great Township of West Deptford. Thorofare is considered the busiest section of West Deptford, with a vast variety of population from residential sections to one of the largest industrial districts in the area, also covering a large stretch of state highways. TVFC is always looking for new membership to make a difference and help out everyone in the community. TVFC operates an average of 400 calls a year and this number rises every year. If you are at least 18 years old and willing to work for your community, then you may want to look into joining the Thorofare Volunteer Fire Company.

What we offer
The Thorofare Volunteer Fire Company offers free training in Firefighting I courses through the Gloucester County Fire Academy. As a new member to the fire service you will be required to attend the Firefighter I program as well as optional courses to strengthen your knowledge in the fire service. We offer a fun atmosphere allowing you to hang out and make new friends gaining a strong sense of pride for your work among one of the strongest bands of brotherhood you will find, all while obtaining the self-satisfaction of giving something back to your community and helping a neighbor. Becoming a volunteer firefighter is a trade that looks great on any job resume or application. TVFC also offers opportunities of advancement in leadership in both business and fire ground operation aspects.
As a member you will receive no direct compensation for the hours you put in but we offer some great benefits to help in some areas. Some of the benefits we offer with the assistance of West Deptford Township include but are not limited to:

- LOSAP (Length Of Service Appreciation Program)
- NJ State Firemen's Association Membership
- Free Riverwinds Membership
What We Do
As part of the fire service we no longer just respond for fires, there is so much more to what we offer and do for our community and neighbors. Including but certainly not limited to: Vehicle Extrication, Hazardous Materials, Emergency Medical Services, Fire Prevention Education and Smoke Detector Installation, Public Relations Events, Marine and Ice Rescue, Animal Rescue, Structural Collapse and Appliance Malfunctions. This is just a short list of calls for service Thorofare has been requested to respond to over the last few years.
Junior Membership
TVFC also offers opportunities for young people interested in joining. If your under the age of 18 and have an interest in joining we have the perfect spot for you. Thorofare Volunteer Fire Company has a junior Firefighter program, allowing kids between ages of 14 and 18 to have a great experience and learn from some experienced, knowledgeable, and veteran firefighters. Junior Firefighters will be working hand and hand with real fireman to gain this vast knowledge. Once the junior firefighter grows to the age of 18, he or she will be allowed to go through the Firefighter I Course.
Ladies Auxiliary
The Thorofare Fire Companies Ladies Auxiliary was originally formed by the wives of the firemen as a support system to help raise money and assist the firemen in any way they can beyond firefighting. The ladies are always looking for new members to assist with these fundraising efforts. Fill out the form below to learn more!

- Stop by the firehouse on a Tuesday night anytime after 1900 hrs to speak with some of the members, pick up an application and ask any question you may have. Any member will be happy to answer any question you have.
- Stop by the station anytime the doors are open or there is a vehicle in the parking lot and speak with a member and pick up an application.
